Disney Infinity games can be accessed by placing a Game Piece on the Disney Infinity Base. There are three types of games, which can be differentiated by which Character Figures may be used with them.

1. Play Set Games are themed to, and may only be used with Character Figures from, a specific franchise.
2. Toy Box Games can be played by any Character Figure from the corresponding studio.
3. Toy Box Expansion Games can be played by any Character Figure.

Games are only compatible with the Disney Infinity Edition they were designed for. Placing a Game Piece on the Disney Infinity Base for a different Edition will result in an error.

However, this may be done in later Editions in order to unlock the toys for that Game in the Toy Store.
